Holiday Community Read 2022

Celebrate the Season reading holiday favorites at Meekins!

Join friends and neighbors for the annual reading of holiday classics that celebrate this time of wonder at the Meekins Library.

Stories this year will become new favorites of both the young and those young at heart.

Patricia Polacco’s Hanukkah story, The Trees of the Dancing Goats, celebrates the miracle of friendship, as one family sacrifices their own Hanukkah gifts to bring some Christmas joy to their ill Christian neighbors.

The Beautiful Christmas Tree, by Charlotte Zolotow, is a gentle, human story that shares the secret – living things need love.

Eve Bunting’s Night Tree tells the story of a family making their annual pilgrimage to decorate an evergreen tree with food for the forest animals.

Hannah’s Bookmobile Christmas by Sally Derby is perfect for a library’s holiday read. In the story, Bluebird, the bookmobile provides a safe place and shelter on a snowy Christmas Eve night.

In Caroline Woodward’s Singing Away the Dark a young girl sings her way as she treks a mile through the woods to catch her school bus on a dark winter’s morning.

Everyone is welcome. Come read or listen and enjoy holiday treats and warm drinks. Please bring something to share in the Williamsburg Neighbors Helping Neighbors Pantry, or a warm something for the coat collection.
