Seeking an adventure? October 31st is fast approaching—Halloween—the perfect night for a ghostly walk around town. Just up Village Hill you will find two of our town cemeteries—the Old Village Hill Cemetery (founded in 1773) and the “new” Village Hill Cemetery. Floating through the first cemetery, you may encounter our earliest town settlers. Walk a little uphill and you can visit those who died in the tragic Mill River flood in 1874 or even Stephen Meekins, the benefactor of the town library named for him. Take a peek inside the crypt. You may be surprised! There will be an extra thrill of anticipation for those who saw the Williamsburg Players production of Trish La Freniere’s “The Veil Is Thin” last weekend! Who knows who will be walking about at midnight? Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist and photographer. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
