Wonder what it was like growing up in Williamsburg and Haydenville? Do you and your family have stories of your school days in town? Do you remember your friends and all the antics you got up to? Are you simply interested in the stories of your community? Come to the Williamsburg Town Office Auditorium (in the former Center School in Haydenville) and listen to tales of childhood and school recollected by your friends and neighbors.

The Williamsburg Players are doing a selection of readings from the book of memories prepared for the town’s bicentennial, “Our Town—2021”. Director Dave Bickford selected and edited some of the entries about growing up and childhood, bringing together many “voices” of our townsfolk to tell this story. In the spirit of an old-fashioned radio play, Williamsburg Players will read the wonderful words offered by community members across the decades. There will be a display of childhood and school days memorabilia and a chance to share some of your memories too.

Do you wonder what winter was like in the villages? How did the Mill River run through the town’s young lives? How many teachers do you remember? What made growing up in Williamsburg and Haydenville special? Come to the town auditorium on Friday, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. or Sunday, October 26th at 2 p.m. Donations will be welcome at the door and part of the proceeds will go to support the Take & Eat program and the local Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors pantry that support our town.

“Our Town—2021” was a best seller and is now sold out. If you don’t have a copy and want to indulge in reading all the wonderful stories, come borrow the book from the Meekins Library—we have copies to check out. Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
