The Mountain Street Reservoir was built in 1905. It is located just off Mountain Street, about 2.1 miles northeast of Haydenville town center. This reservoir, or artificially impounded body of water, has always been a beautiful spot in all seasons. The Mountain Street Reservoir is currently owned by the City of Northampton. It is the farthest source serving the water needs of that city. The reservoir stands at 459 feet above sea level. The reservoir itself sits on Northampton Water Department land, in the towns of Williamsburg, Hatfield, and Whatley. It is an oasis for a walk along the boundary roads and path in any season. Look out over the water itself and catch the reflection of the clouds and hills, the greens, the grays and the colors, and feel the peace.
