Did you know that the Meekins has its own small and well-loved collection of stuffies large and small. The red-heart lion has been loved by many children over the years. The majestic eagle puppet is special to Library Director Bev. The gorilla in tartan plaid was beloved by the late long-time volunteer Margo, who was proud of her Scottish heritage. The tiny Paddington bear is a welcome companion when reading all about his adventures. Goofy is just Goofy—and always makes everyone smile. The tiny wizard finger puppet dog is one of Children’s Librarian Rochelle’s favorites for story time. The green turtle reminds us of the world’s wildlife. The quirky white sock rabbit hiding in the corner was happy to be unearthed from Kmit Librarian Makayla’s desk, together with Groot. And the green-eyed bobcat has a special place in Archivist Daria’s heart. These favorites and others small and not-so-small, make their home at the Meekins.
What is your favorite stuffie? Do you have a photograph or a story to share? Add them to the comments. And come visit the Meekins Library stuffies—and put your story in their special guest book. Meekins is open Tuesday 10-6; Wednesday 1-7; Thursday 3-6 and Saturday 9-2. Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
