Saturday, November 22, 2025, is the big day! The Meekins Market, Williamsburg library’s special holiday tradition, will be 17 on this year’s opening day. It all started in November 2008 (with a COVID induced 2020 hiatus), when the Library initiated a special recycling (and friend- and fun-raising) curated in-house tag sale, matching donated good quality new and gently used treasures and their stories with new homes.
With dedicated friends and community support, patrons provide the quick-changing inventory and make regular selections. Children of all ages enjoy the fun of choosing something special from the packed tables that appear under the Bacon Rotunda dome each year.
Everyone can find lots of small, and not so small, inexpensive gifts to give friends and loved ones. Kids, don’t know what to give your sisters, brothers, or cousins? Grandparents, want something for the grandkids? Looking for an idea for your best friend, but your budget is limited? Find it at the Meekins Market. Most items are between 50 cent and 10 dollars. Find stuffed animals, puzzles, games, decorative objects, household items, fun clothing, scarves and mittens, jewelry, holiday items, an occasional vintage surprise and much more. The tables are chock full—with new things coming in every day. Think of it as the newest trend in recycling.
Fun stuff @ a good deal!
From the beginning, this annual community event has been combined with a dedicated food drive for the local pantry, and a warm clothing collection and exchange in our local community. The bins of food and warm clothing are here at Meekins, free for the taking, and at the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Pantry on the steps of the Grange. Stop by to have a look!
Enter the popular 10 puzzle raffle with puzzles of the holidays, flora and fauna, amazing creatures, books, and more. This year there is a special raffle for a Harry Potter wand. Winners will be drawn on December 20th at 1:30.
Come to the Meekins Library this holiday season—get your holiday books, magazines and DVDS, share cookies at the first annual December 13th cookie swop, join in and read at the Meekins’ community holiday read on Sunday, December 14th at 1:30, enjoy the festive library decorations, browse the Meekins Market, enter the popular raffles, join in the clothing exchange, and taste the treats that magically appear on the circulation desk.
