Winter is here. Cold, cold weather. That dreaded ice and wind. And, yes, our often-welcome seasonal snow, too, for local hiking and sledding and skiing and snowshoeing and skating. But sometimes it is good to be warm and cozy inside and watch the winter wonderland outside.
The Meekins Library is a warm oasis in the cold. Come in on a cold winter day and have a seat in a comfy chair in the sunshine in the Black Reading Room. Pull a magazine off the shelf and look for a new recipe for supper. Sit in the rocker in the Otis Alcove and lose yourself in a good book. Discover the lure of the graphic novel. Or, come with your grandchildren on a Tuesday morning at 10:30 for Rochelle’s special story hour. Bring your child and read a story in the rocker in the Picture Book Room. Or let them play with the fairy house or wooden trains on the funky blue rug. Have a cup of tea and visit with your neighbors who are coming in the library too. Play community Scrabble on the giant board next to the big picture windows. Explore a bit of town lore in the Local History area. Enjoy an art exhibition in the Hammer Gallery. Choose a DVD to take home and watch by the wood stove. Or find that perfect puzzle to while away a winter evening.
Are you ready for the next storm? Before it arrives, come and get a good book, movie, or music at the library to escape into when you get snowed in. If you are all tucked up at home, visit the Meekins website, your gateway to so many virtual resources. And when the sun shines again, or it is just a silver winter day, come back to Meekins, your community library. Meekins is open Tuesday 10-6; Wednesday 1-7; Thursday 3-6 and Saturday 9-2.
