Meekins Library started collecting books even before the library was built in 1896. On May 1, 1895, Meekins transferred 1,817 books from the existing private subscription of the Williamsburg Library Association to start the new library collection, which was added to by Mr. Ludden, the Librarian, and his assistant, Miss S.J. Morse.
The first 10 books recorded in the new accession book included a Greek and English dictionary, numerous volumes about flora and fauna, including Botany of the Death Valley Expedition, and a discourse on Animal Parasites of Sheep! These early volumes are in the Meekins Archives. #throwbackthursday #TBT
