Come to the Meekins and take a peek into the library’s Cabinet of Curiosities and you will see shelves full of the colorful, comical, curious, creative creatures crafted by the artist Kathy Anderson.

These wonderfully diverse characters are seen doing things together, as propped and arranged by Meekins librarian Beth Kilduff. There are creatures relaxing in their backyard, creatures visiting the seashore, creatures getting ready for supper, creatures sitting comfy in their living room, creatures just chatting together, a very senior creature hiking with his dog, creatures just being creatures, and an entire chorus of creatures about to burst into song.

The artist says she created these felt figures out of a sense of childlike fun. And adds: “It is our hope that by opening to their joy, you will find it filling your heart, if even for a moment.”

Visit the Library and see Kathy Anderson’s whimsical felted creatures all having fun. Meekins is open Tuesday 10-6; Wednesday 1-7; Thursday 3-6 and Saturday 9-2. Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist and creature photographer. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
