This annual festive seasonal tradition brings together young and young-at-heart community members in the historic Meekins Library to read vintage holiday classics and soon-to-be-classics, which celebrate the wonders of the winter season.

Our joyful custom continues this year, on December 14, 2025, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in front of the fireplace in the Library’s John and Alta Black Reading Room, with stories that are old favorites and those that may be new to you that could become favorites. We will read these stories:

  • Fox and Crow: A Christmas Tale by Zetta Elliott
  • The Christmas Boot by Lisa Wheeler
  • In the Month of Kislev: A Story for Hanukkah by Nina Jaffe
  • Seven Spools of Thread: A Kwanzaa Story by Angela Shelf Medearis
  • Snow by Cynthia Rylant
  • A Gift of the Heart by Norman Vincent Peale

Everyone is welcome. For many, this has become a favorite seasonal tradition. Whether you are returning for another year, or this will be your first time, join us to read or listen and enjoy warm homemade treats. If you can, bring something to share in the Williamsburg Neighbors-Helping- Neighbors Pantry, or a warm something for the Meekins annual clothing collection. Check out the Meekins Library online.
