Celebrate National Library Week at Meekins: “Drawn to the Library” is the theme for this year’s National Library Week, April 6th through 12th, 2025. This week-long event celebrates all the ways people use their libraries for connection, information, exploration, entertainment, research, study, growth, and just plain fun. And Meekins is your community library.

Want the latest bestselling mystery? Come into Meekins. Want to listen to a spine-tingling thriller or a sweet romance? Want “Goodnight Moon” to soothe your child to sleep? Want to learn a poem a day for the month of April? Want to read the local papers or browse your favorite magazine in comfort? Want some help with that pesky school report? Want to use a computer? Want some help with your own cranky computer? Want to know more about our town history? Want to play chess, or mend your jeans, or learn how to start seedlings for your garden? Want to learn about exotic spices? Want to hear the best children’s books at story time? Want to see the work of talented artists in a sunny gallery setting? Want to talk books? Want to see your friends and neighbors and chat under the rotunda? Want to sit and knit or crochet with friends? Want to make a canine friend and practice your reading? Want to visit a local museum at a discount? Need a hotspot for a few days? Come into Meekins. Want to sit in beautiful gardens and still be wi-fi connected? For 129 years, Meekins has been your hometown library. Did you come in as kid? Have you been visiting for decades or are you new to town? Do you remember sneaking up into the low glass-floored mezzanine stacks under the rotunda? Did you look with amazement at the big open space after the renovation in 2003? Is the post-renovation Meekins the library you know? How many librarians have you known? How many do you know now? What does Meekins mean to you? Come add a post-it to the Meekins wall of notes celebrating the library this special week.
