Meekins is ready. Are you? It’s that spooky time of year—and Meekins is your own haunted library. Outside in the dark, bright orange lights lead you to the door. Gap tooth pumpkins grin ominously on the old steps. Inside, skeletons scream in horror. The librarians are deep in disguise. And the Meekins ghost peers through the glass window in a purple glow. Who knows? Does she walk at night? Does she meet the ghost of Stephen Meekins who walks at midnight on All Hallows Eve!

Come to Meekins for Halloween treats on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. after the town rag shag. Cauldrons will be bubbling, and bowls of candy will be brimming over. Beware the skeleton hands that may grab you as you walk by. And a Pirate Queen will be telling Halloween stories for kids and kids at heart. Be prepared!

And the Meekins annual traditional Day of the Dead shrine gathering together photographs, mementos, favorite foods, candles, and flowers in memory of lost loved ones will be in the John and Alta Black Reading Room. Come in and add someone you want to remember too.

Enjoy Halloween at Meekins. Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist and photographer. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
