I walk through Burgy and up Village Hill, nearly every day, and in every season. When October comes, the morning light changes, marking the arrival of autumn.
In the peace and quiet of a recent early morning walk, blue sky, turning leaves, seasonal decorations, fall flowers and lovely light and shadows were everywhere, from the top of the hill, down to the flowers in a neighbor’s yard. Only a very few cars passed me by, and I saw even fewer people while on my stroll. As usual, I was warmly welcomed as I walked by the shaggy black dog who serves as the canine “mayor” of Burgy town center and jubilantly greets me every day. (Perhaps it really is the dog biscuits in my pocket?)
The Meekins Library looked stately and festive, town houses were all decked out for the fall and the coming of Halloween, pollinators were busy on the sunflowers, leaves were turning red, flowers still held the morning dew, and the Mill River looked its seasonal best.
It was indeed a beautiful Burgy morning. Do you have a favorite morning route? Daria D’Arienzo, Meekins Archivist and photographer. #throwbackthursday; #tbt.
