The Meekins Market, the library’s now decade-old holiday tradition, skipped its 13th year—COVID saw to that. In November 2008, the library initiated a special recycling (and friend-raising) sort of in-house tag sale, matching donated good quality new and gently used treasures and their stories with new homes. With dedicated friends and community support, patrons provided the quick changing inventory and made regular selections. Children of all ages enjoyed the fun of choosing something special from the packed tables that appeared in the Meekins hallway every year. This annual community building event was always combined with a food and warm clothing collection for the local community. The Meekins Market even caught the interest of American Libraries, with a column in Nov./Dec. 2012. Luckily a food pantry and warm clothing are still here in town free for the taking, this year on the steps of the Grange. Stop by to have a look! The Meekins Market is looking forward to celebrating its 13th annual appearance in its 14th year—2021! #throwbackthursday #tbt
