The Haydenville Library is one of the smallest library buildings in Massachusetts. It was built in 1899 and dedicated on November 19th, a gift of Miss Anna Hayden in memory of her brother Charles Rowley Hayden who died at 41 in 1886. It was built directly across the street from the Hayden family house. Being inside of the building felt like you were in a library in your own home. Many people have fond memories of the hours spent in childhood exploring the shelves and reading books while curled up in one of the cozy chairs. No longer serving as a circulating library collection, in pre-COVID times the building was used regularly for small community and arts groups and town committee meetings, and even for a family baby shower! #TBT #throwbackthursday
