SUMMARY:Knox Trail Media Show with Jonathan Barkan
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS HELD OFFSITE AT THE ANNE T. DUNPHY SCHOOL. \n\n\n\nCome celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. \n\n\n\nIn 1973\, emerging professional photographer Jonathan Barkan was contracted by the Massachusetts Bicentennial Commission. His assignment: create a multi-projector traveling slide show. It was designed to inspire a statewide reenactment and tell the full story of Henry Knox and his plan to retrieve and haul cannons from Fort Ticonderoga\, New York\, to Boston. \n\n\n\nThis story linked the entire Commonwealth from west to east and led directly to the first major military victory of the War for Independence: Evacuation Day. \n\n\n\nThe original media program has now been modernized for 21st-century audiences as a state-of-the-art video. It is enlivened with additional imagery and retains a re-creation featuring period cannons\, draft horses\, and oxen. \n\n\n\nMr. Barkan will screen the show and briefly share his personal experiences and production challenges. \n\n\n\nLight refreshments will be provided. Sponsored by Meekins Library and the Williamsburg Historical Society.
