SUMMARY:Terry Tangredi Art Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an art reception to celebrate and remember Terry Tangredi. \n\n\n\nTerry Tangredi began painting in the last decade of her 66 years of life. For Terry painting was a very peaceful\, quiet experience. She painted mostly for herself. But if her art could bring joy to others\, then she would savor that as well. At heart\, Terry’s art was a chance to be centered\, calm and tranquil and also to explore a new venue. \n\n\n\nTerry’s home was a work of art\, and her painting was a natural extension of that. She brought the same creativity and love of beauty to all that she did\, whether it was the way she cooked an extraordinary meal\, hand-cultivated gardens\, or transcribed and composed her observations into paintings. Terry was a true artist. \n\n\n\nTerry was a devoted healer\, acupuncturist\, horticulturalist\, and cook. She had an adventurous spirit\, and appreciated natural beauty\, enjoying walking tours of Ireland\, hiking the Smoky Mountains\, cross-country skiing nearby\, and just walking the rural byways of her very own town.

SUMMARY:Artist Reception: CONNECTIONS
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us for an artist reception featuring our March gallery artist\, Joy Kinigstein. \n\n\n\nArtist statement: Many years ago I viewed an art exhibit of paired portraits\, paintings intended as diptychs\, but separated – sometimes for centuries. I was struck by how these reunited depictions\, though independently successful\, together\, created a more complex and complete narrative. CONNECTIONS\, a collection of recent paintings and collages by Haydenville artist\, Joy Kinigstein was inspired by that long ago exhibition.

SUMMARY:Banned Together Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Local documentary film maker\, Kate Way\, is going to be screening her latest film Banned Together at Meekins Library on Sunday\, March 15 at 3:00pm. \n\n\n\nThe film pulls back the curtain on two of the most controversial issues in America today: book bans and curriculum censorship in public schools. Banned Together follows three students and their adult allies as they fight to reinstate 97 books suddenly pulled from their school libraries. As they evolve from local to national activists – meeting with bestselling/banned authors\, politicians\, Constitutional experts\, and more – the film reveals the dark forces behind the accelerating wave of book bans in the U.S.

SUMMARY:March Exhibition Opens: CONNECTIONS
DESCRIPTION:Our featured gallery artist for March is Joy Kinigstein. \n\n\n\nAvailable for viewing during open library hours this March. The gallery occupies the same space as our community room; if there is an ongoing program\, we ask that patrons refrain from interrupting the event. \n\n\n\nAn artist’s reception will be held on Saturday March 21\, between 2:00 and 4:30.

Profiling 20 black and white men and women\, highlighting their courage\, activism\, and unwavering commitment to freedom. Through vivid vignettes\, including their own words\, their struggles and sacrifices come to life. \n\n\n\nAmid ongoing efforts to erase history\, these stories serve as a powerful corrective- meant to challenge\, inspire\, and ignite action. The book weaves both author’s perspectives into the narrative\, emphasizing the importance of learning from the past.
