The 1952-53 season was an outstanding one for the Girls’ Basketball team. According to the 1953 yearbook, the “Tattler”, their season ended with “one of the best records in the history of W.H.S.” to that date. Led by Coach Evelyn Kmit, the girls won 12 of the 16 games they played. Senior Mary Graves scored 199 of their 500 points made by the forwards.

At the Testimonial Banquet, seniors Joan Culver, Nancy Outhuse and Mary Graves were awarded trophies. Other team members, the manager and the timekeeper were presented with white sweaters with green emblems with school letters, designed by team senior Nancy Outhuse.
